The European automobile industry was on its peak and no other car market would come close before the WWII but everything changed afterwards, after the WWII most of the European countries saw automobiles as export items that could revive the war-shattered economy and focus was on building vehicles which provided better utility and affordability, but in the United States things were very different, in the late 50s and 60s the cars made in this country were all about luxury, high performance and bigger than most cars were across the globe, fast but heavy and brute like is exactly what the Americans liked when it came to cars and Chrysler 300c 1957 was launched with a new design and it instantly became the epitome of opulence in American automobile industry.
In January 1942 the government of the United States froze the sale of consumer vehicles as the demand for tanks, trucks, airplanes and jeeps was too much, the world was fighting a great war and the American automobile industry had to make this decision before that it was all about creating luxury vehicles, but when all of that was over and the American consumer hadn’t had an amazing local made car, the automobile industry has to come up with some of the most luxurious cars ever made, when most of the developed countries were feeling the aftereffects of war, the United States economy was stable and automobile industry went back to creating luxury vehicles, the great post-ware opulence symbol were big heavy American cars which oozed class and luxury, while most of Europe made cars which were fuel efficient and less heavy, America could afford making luxury cars and for the first time a V8 engine was placed in a sedan.
